11 Reasons to Take a Break from Feeding

I've said it once and I'm going to say it again... M makes me look like the epitome of patience. I picture myself with a halo these days, the supreme mother, smiling beatifically at her daughter who mistakes the titty for a teether sometimes. M is of the notion that 'it' needs a stretch test quite regularly.

Having said that, now that she is 6 months old, she feeds quite actively and these nursing sessions are liberally interrupted with the most adorable things and actions. Breastfeeding can and will stop for any number of momentous things happening in the universe. What it all boils down to is that I will have to bear it all without the slightest movement, as long as she isn't done feeding. 

In spite of everything, I just cant help but be amused at her antics. So, let me point out just some of the reasons for M to take a break from her feeding.

  1. I cleared my throat.
  2. I picked up my cellphone or it beeped or I tried to check my email, etc.
  3. Daddy walked in the room.
  4. Daddy tried to say something.
  5. I tried to reposition myself.
  6. Looks up to make sure that I'm looking at nothing else but her.
  7. Looks up to smile at me and let's me know I'm doing a good job.
  8. The curtains blow in the wind.
  9. The ceiling fan is still there.
  10. The ceiling fan is still there.

The year that was 2013

It was, by all means, an eventful year, lots of things in my bucket list were ticked and lots of things were added. I loved every bit of it, even the worse times because they were followed by some of the most awesome things. There were new trips, new friends, new books, new beginnings and a lot of new me that came about. Here's a small glimpse of the year that I'll see off in a couple of hours... 1. January: The new year was at its boozy, smoky best, and add to that both our birthday celebrations and it was a good start to the year. Early morning birthday cake surprise from S 2. February: Ha... Quirk of timing!

This totally intriguing thing happened late last night while we were returning home.  The roads were clear and empty almost. I was humming along to some nice Kishore Kumar songs playing on the radio and inhaling that peculiar autumn smell in the air. Everything was gradually entering a trance-like mode when suddenly my husband jarred my senses.  He was trying to make me see something ahead of him. As both his hands were on the wheel, the whole pointing action was done by his eyes and monosyllabic utterances containing the single word, ' Dekho !' .  I naturally looked ahead—at the road.
